Healthcare through the storm

Supporting our community during ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

It’s been a few weeks since ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred swept through our community, leaving many homes and businesses damaged and countless locals facing a difficult clean-up. As the recovery continues, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible efforts of the Evercare team during those challenging days—and to thank our patients for trusting us through it all.

When severe weather strikes, health often drops down the priority list—but that’s when healthcare access matters most. Storms and floods bring not only physical damage but also increased health risks: injuries, infections, stress, and mental health challenges. At Evercare, we believe healthcare shouldn’t stop when the weather turns.

That’s why, from Thursday to Sunday during the cyclone, our team adapted quickly and stayed available. We delivered 61 consultations, maintained contact with patients through chat support, and made sure those needing care weren’t left wondering where to turn.

We’re incredibly proud of how our team responded. Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and support staff worked extra shifts, stayed late, and checked in on patients—many while dealing with their own personal challenges. Some staff turned up ready to work despite not having power at home. Others pivoted fast to telehealth consultations, ensuring care continued wherever possible, safely and efficiently.

This experience reinforced what we already know: Evercare is more than a GP clinic—we’re a community of people committed to caring for each other. Our team’s resilience and dedication reflect the values Evercare was built on: accessible, patient-first healthcare.

If you’ve delayed your own health check during the clean-up or recovery, now is a great time to reconnect. We’re here, as always, ready to support you and your family. Existing patients can simply book an appointment through the Evercare app. New patients can find a time that suits here or give us a call on 07 3608 1400.

Thank you for trusting us with your care. Through cyclones, floods, and everyday challenges—we’ll be here.
